TSUNAMI

Tsunami

Tsunami (Japanese: 津 波; tsu = port, nami = wave, literally means "big waves in the harbor") is the displacement of water bodies caused by changes in sea surface vertically and suddenly. Changes in sea level could be caused by an earthquake centered under the sea, underwater volcanic eruptions, underwater landslides, or a meteor or lacing at sea. Tsunami waves can propagate in any direction. Power contained in the tsunami wave height is fixed to the function of altitude and speed. In the deep ocean, tsunami waves can propagate with the speed of 500-1000 km per hour. Equivalent to the speed of the aircraft. Wave height in the deep ocean is only about 1 meter. Thus, the rate of the waves are not felt by the ship was at sea. When approaching the coast, the tsunami wave velocity decreases to about 30 miles per hour, but its height has been increased to tens of meters. Tsunami waves hit could go up to tens of kilometers of shoreline. Damage and casualties due to tsunami can be caused due to hit the water and material carried by the flow of tsunami waves.

Negative impact caused by tsunamis are damaging anything in its path. Buildings, vegetation, and result in human casualties and causing inundation, salt water contamination of agricultural land, soil, and clean water.  (translation of wikipedia http://id.wikipedia.org).
